Some Words from a Hero...

Please read Bono's remarks at this year's National Prayer Breakfast to understand why, to me, he is more than a rock star. I'm not posting this to be controversial, just to explain my previous post. And please read the whole thing.

Well - I'll say this about Bono:

He's clearly hired a terrific PR firm - they're great at making sure his "quotes" get print. As for the remarks - Somebody did a fine job writing them for him. I can read prepared statements too! Hmmmm - how much attention should I pay to some guy who is in his forties that still goes by a fake name? And only a single name at that? Well, about as much time that I spend listening to what the "Edge" has to say. Or Madonna. Another one namer. Great. BTW - Laura Ingraham wrote an excellent book entitled "Shut Up and Sing" - it's a great read and I think it's definitly applicable here!

I think that we all should not take the quotes of celebrities with a grain of salt. I'm sure that some of them mean well, while others run their mouth just because they can. Discernment is a definite sine qua non when it comes to folks who spend a lot of time under the microscope of the spotlight.
I think that Bono is one of those celebrities who 'gives a damn' and isn't afraid to show it. Granted, I don't agree with him on a lot of things, but I do believe that he is a good man. I'm given to think that he believes what he says.
If you want an example of what I'm talking about, procure a copy of the film 'rattle and hum' and skip to 'bullet the blue sky.' listen to what Bono says.
Not trying to single anyone out here, but it seems that there's a good deal of cynicism about.
